Ross pleased with outing

PEORIA, Ariz -- Tyson Ross had been very sharp all spring and suffered a bit of a statistical bump in the road in his Wednesday start against the Indians, but the right-hander said everything is going the way it should for this point in the year.

Ross turned in his longest outing of the spring, going four innings and giving up three runs on six hits. One of the hits was a two-run homer off the bat of Carlos Santana.

"I struggled a little bit with fastball command, but overall it was a step in the right direction," Ross said. "I got my pitch count up, I got to mix in some more off-speed, tried to work out of some jams, but I came out of it feeling good and I'll just work on the fastball command moving forward."

Ross said he threw more changeups Wednesday than he had in his previous two outings and that he was happy with the results.

"I got some good action, some good strikes with it, a couple ground balls, a swing and miss or two," Ross said. "It's definitely something I've been working on, and it's nice to it in the game."
