Kazmir feels good to go after bullpen session
CLEVELAND -- A's manager Bob Melvin may not be ready to say how his rotation will line up after the All-Star break, but he is certain the arrangement will include Scott Kazmir.
The Oakland left-hander threw a bullpen session Saturday for the first time since prematurely exiting his Wednesday outing against the Yankees with left triceps tightness and came away feeling pain-free.
"He's felt good every day since that night," Melvin said.
That's especially welcoming news for an A's rotation that's experienced a few blips of late, with right-hander Jesse Hahn hitting the disabled list Saturday with a forearm strain and right-hander Jesse Chavez enduring some midseason struggles.
• Brett Lawrie received a day off Saturday, leading Melvin to give Eric Sogard his first start at third base since 2012.
• Coco Crisp remains bothered by a neck strain that put him on the disabled list in May and is not close to resuming baseball activity, Melvin said.
