Blash homers twice on six-RBI day at Triple-A

Outfielder Jabari Blash, the Mariners' No. 18 prospect, homered in back-to-back plate appearances and drove in a career-high six runs Sunday, but it wasn't enough as Triple-A El Paso outslugged Tacoma, 14-12.

Blash finished the game 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs. He did all his damage on consecutive swings in the fifth and seventh innings. He first hit a two-out grand slam off Chihuahuas starter Jason Lane in the fifth and followed with a two-run blast off right-hander Branch Kloess in the seventh.

Outfielder Xavier Avery, the Mariners' No. 19 prospect, added a three-run home run in the eighth inning. He finished the day 1-for-4 with a walk and extended his hitting streak to five games.

Blash began the season with Double-A Jackson and was promoted at the end of April. He is hitting .200 with four home runs in 20 games since moving up to Triple-A. Overall this season, he is hitting .234 with nine home runs in 45 games.
