Short hops

• First baseman Yonder Alonso (DL, right wrist tendinitis) will join Triple-A El Paso on Monday. He played two games for the team's entry in the Arizona League and hit a home run on Saturday.

• Shortstop Everth Cabrera (DL, left hamstring strain) did infield drills and ran the bases before the Padres' game on Sunday at Petco Park. Like Alonso, he'll join El Paso on Monday to begin a Minor League rehabilitation assignment.
