Since he was a kid, Posey played the right way

Buster Posey, C, Giants
Hometown: Leesburg, Ga.

Posey's father didn't play baseball, but that didn't stop him from imparting a life lesson on his son that has helped guide Posey in his tremendous Major League career.

"No matter what's going on, if things are going good or bad, carry yourself the same way, so no one can tell the difference," his father taught him.

Posey has taken that to heart.

The oldest of four children -- he has two brothers and one sister -- Posey was as good in the classroom as he was on the diamond. He ranked fourth in his high school graduating class of 302 students.

"I'm not as smart as the other kids," Posey told his mother at the time. "I just work hard."

The Angels originally drafted Posey out of high school in the 50th round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, but he did not sign.
