Smoke signals

• Francona said Lonnie Chisenhall, along with Jesus Aguilar, will also see some time at first while Swisher recovers.

"Aggie's here, and I would assume that Aggie will play a lot just because we want to see what he can do, too," Francona said. "But we'll run Lonnie over there a little bit."

• Starter Zach McAllister, who was placed on the disabled Thursday with a lower back strain, threw a 50-pitch bullpen session on Monday. Francona said McAllister will throw again Friday, and may face a few hitters.

• Double-A Akron right-hander Cody Anderson has been named Indians Minor League Player of the Week for May 19-25, the club announced Tuesday. Anderson, 23, allowed one run on five hits in 5 1/3 innings in his last start on Saturday.

The 6-4, 220-pound righty, who has allowed no more than one run in four of his last six starts, was named the Indians Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2013 after posting the lowest ERA (2.65) in the organization.
