Stars & Stripes: It's More Than a Hat

There are many organizations that support our heroes fighting overseas, but the partnership of Major League Baseball and Welcome Back Veterans (WBV) has left an indelible mark in the military community. WBV is an organization that assists veterans and their families with various issues, to include treatment for PTSD. Since their inception, they have donated over $17 million to the cause.

In order to raise money for WBV, MLB decided to team up with New Era in 2008 to begin making the “Stars and Stripes” hats. These hats are worn on Memorial Day and Independence Day by all of players on MLB’s 30 clubs. The first four hats featured the red, white, and blue color scheme, but the 2012 hats are the first ones to keep each club’s normal color scheme. Instead, each logo has been infused with the US military’s modern digital camouflage print.

To show your pride and support for this life-changing endeavor, go here and pick up the hats for your favorite teams. The proceeds for these hats will all be donated to Welcome Back Veterans.
