Pearce comes off DL to rejoin Orioles

Outfielder/designated hitter takes roster spot of departed Hoes

BALTIMORE -- Steve Pearce was activated from the 15-day disabled list in time for Wednesday night's game against the Astros.

The Orioles dealt for Houston starter Bud Norris on Wednesday, giving up a package that included the originally scheduled left fielder, L.J. Hoes. Adam Jones was slated to get a day at DH, but with the trade and Pearce's activation, Jones moved back to center and Pearce served as the DH on Wednesday. Nate McLouth had been penciled in at center field, but he slid over to left.

Pearce takes Hoes' roster spot, and Norris takes starter Jason Hammel's place on the active roster after Hammel was placed on the 15-day DL with right flexor tightness.

Pearce has been on the shelf since June 20. The outfielder/DH hit .235/.311/.383 in 90 plate appearances this season before hitting the DL, including time spent battling through multiple wrist injuries.
