Sundberg, Pudge to represent Rangers at Draft

ARLINGTON -- Former All-Star catchers Jim Sundberg and Ivan Rodriguez, who won 19 Gold Glove Awards between them, will again represent the Rangers at the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.

The first round of the Draft will be held on June 5 with Rodriguez and Sundberg representing the Rangers at MLB Network's Studio 42 in Secaucus, New Jersey. The Rangers have the 30th overall pick as compensation for the Orioles signing outfielder Nelson Cruz. They lost the 29th overall pick to the Reds for signing outfielder Shin-Soo Choo.

Sundberg is in his seventh year as a Senior Executive Vice-President for the Rangers and has become a regular in Secaucus for the Draft. He was joined last year by Rodriguez, who serves as a special assistant to general manager Jon Daniels.

The 2014 Draft will take place on June 5-7, beginning with the Draft preview show on MLB.com and MLB Network on Thursday, June 5, at 5 p.m. CT. Live Draft coverage from MLB Network's Studio 42 begins at 6 p.m., with the top 74 picks being streamed on MLB.com and broadcast on MLB Network. MLB.com's exclusive coverage of the second and third days will begin with a live Draft show at 11:30 a.m. CT on June 6.
