A's manager Bob Melvin said the 30-year-old is "throwing the ball well" and his velocity "has been pretty consistent with how he's thrown in the past for us."
Venditte, working his way back from a right shoulder strain, made his third rehab appearance for Class A Advanced Stockton on Tuesday, pitching two innings and allowing one hit, a home run. He walked none and struck out three.

• Outfielder Coco Crisp, out since May with a strained neck, played in the same game and went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs. He had a scheduled day off Wednesday but is expected back in the Ports lineup Thursday.
• Left-hander Sean Doolittle (strained left shoulder) is still on track for a bullpen session in Oakland on Thursday, his first since returning to the DL on May 28.
