Crowe, Escalona invited to big league camp
Crowe, 29, split his 2012 season between the Indians' and Angels' systems, combining to hit .281 with a .349 on-base percentage, 19 doubles, 29 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 84 games.
He finished the year with the Angels' Triple-A Salt Lake affiliate, where he hit .301 with 10 doubles, 16 RBIs and 10 steals in 42 games. He has played in parts of three Major League seasons (all with Cleveland from 2009-11), posting a career .245 average with 34 doubles and 29 steals in 209 games. The former first-round pick has played all three outfield positions in his big league career.
Escalona, 28, spent the 2012 season on the Astros' disabled list recovering from left elbow surgery. After the season, he was outrighted off the Astros' 40-man roster.
The southpaw was 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA in 49 games for Houston in 2011, holding opposing left-handers to a .188 batting average. In 63 career Major League games (with the Astros and the Phillies), he owns a 3.48 ERA.
