The Yard at Mission Rock announces tenants for the pop-up village

The pop-up shipping container village called The Yard at Mission Rock will open early March 2015 and will feature popular homegrown tenants such as Anchor Brewing, Off the Grid and Peet's Coffee & Tea and is supported by Bank of America.

Open year-round, 7 days per week, The Yard will activate a small portion of Giants Parking Lot A, at the corner of 3rd St. and Terry Francois Blvd. The pop-up village will be constructed out of recycled shipping containers that will house local food and drink establishments, pop-up shops, public open space, cultural programing and events. It will serve as a gathering place for those who live and work in the South Beach and Mission Bay neighborhoods.

"We're thrilled to be bringing a wine program to The Yard that embodies our world-renown neighboring wine country complemented with the best of San Francisco Street Food," said Off the Grid Founder Matt Cohen. "The Yard is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our work with local small businesses and is the perfect place for us to launch Off the Grid's first fixed market."

"The Yard offers the community a new, fun and innovative destination," said Anchor Brewing CEO Keith Greggor. "We're excited to launch the Anchor Beer Garden at The Yard - a place to gather, drink Steam and try new beers, including some one-off experimental beers."

The Yard will give surrounding neighbors the opportunity to experience the future Mission Rock neighborhood on a smaller scale. Nestled between the maturing South Beach neighborhood and the emerging Mission Bay neighborhood, the Mission Rock district will be an exciting, new, common ground for San Franciscans. Mission Rock will feature a spectacular waterfront park, a diverse mixed-use neighborhood that includes hundreds of new rental housing units, offices and homegrown retailers grouped along a network of green streets, public plazas and promenades.

Alice Rogers of the South Beach Rincon Mission Bay Neighborhood Association commented, "Many residents in our neighborhoods are anxiously anticipating the fresh energy The Yard will bring to Mission Bay. We are all looking forward to supporting the local vendors who will be bringing their goods to our 'hood."

Additional Yard tenants will be announced in the coming weeks. Individuals interested in learning more about The Yard and upcoming events, can register on www.theyardsf.com.
