Tigers to Host Royals and Twins During Six-Game Homestand at Comerica Park

DETROIT - The Tigers return to Comerica Park from a 10-game road trip to begin a six-game homestand Friday night. The Tigers will open the homestand against the Kansas City Royals (May 8-10), while the Minnesota Twins will visit for a three-game series (May 12-14). Friday's first pitch against the Royals is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. and Saturday's game is scheduled for 1:08 p.m. Sunday's game is at 8:10 p.m. and will be nationally broadcast on ESPN. Tuesday and Wednesday's games against the Twins are scheduled to start at 7:08 p.m. with a day game, concluding the homestand, at 1:08 p.m. on Thursday.

· Pre-game on-field Clinic: Prior to the start of Saturday's game, Tigers players and coaches will host a pre-game on-field lecture-style clinic on baseball fundamentals including pitching, catching, infield defense and hitting from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Gates will open at 11:00 a.m. to all ticket holders, fans can enter the field from the lower bowl and pick one of four stations. All player and coach pairs will rotate through all four groups before the completion of the clinic. The clinic is presented by Bedgear.

· The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Steve Koppin, representing Homeplate, Tigers fan Logan Atkinson and Gil Humphreys of Belle Tire.

· Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer: Major League Baseball and the Detroit Tigers have partnered with Komen for the Cure to go to bat against breast cancer. The Tigers donated 1,000 tickets to breast cancer survivors, volunteers and their families from the Detroit Race for the Cure to attend the Mother's Day game. More than 250 breast cancer survivors will be invited onto the field and recognized prior to the national anthem. In addition, Heidi Westphal, the Tigers winner from Major League Baseball's Honorary Bat Girl contest to recognize inspirational fans that have been affected by breast cancer will be honored prior to the start of the game and will throw a ceremonial first pitch. During the game, players from both clubs will use pink bats, and all baseballs will have pink stitching.
· Mother's Day: Prior to Sunday's game, 250 breast cancer survivors from the Komen Race for the Cure and 500 Moms that will be selected upon entry, will be invited onto the field for a special pre-game recognition and will receive a Mother's Day t-shirt.

· The national anthem and God Bless America will be performed by 14-year-old vocalist Rachel Miltimore from the Michigan Opera Theatre Children's Chorus.
· All Sunday home games are Kids Days at Comerica Park. · Wine Lovers Night: The Detroit Tigers are offering a special ticket package for wine lovers that includes a lower baseline, upper box infield or upper reserved ticket, an exclusive Detroit Tigers bottle stopper and a $3 dollar donation to the Detroit Wine Organization. · Miss Michigan Recognition: Prior to the start of Wednesday's game, 27 2015 Miss Michigan title holders will be recognized on-field.

Thursday, May 14 vs. Minnesota Twins at 1:08 p.m. Gates Open at 11:30 a.m.

· Aquafina School Incentive Days: During six select games this season, the Detroit Tigers Foundation and Aquafina will host over 10,000 students from area schools to reward and thank students as part of the annual Detroit Tigers School Incentive and Reward Program. For more than 60 years the Tigers organization has hosted members of school safety patrol squads and more recently, rewarded students for maintaining perfect attendance for a marking period. On May 14, as part of the school incentive program, 1,000 backpacks will be given away to students, courtesy of Aquafina.
· G.R.E.A.T Program: The Tigers were the first professional sports team to commit to the Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) program, and have dedicated one game since 1992 to G.R.E.A.T. This year, 350 Detroit area middle school students who have graduated from or are currently receiving lessons under the 13-week program will attend the game to celebrate their achievements in avoiding destructive behaviors. 40 select students will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony and have the opportunity to hear inspiring words from a Tigers coach or player.
· Weather Day: Prior to Thursday's game, more than 2,500 students from local schools will participate in Weather Day, the third installment of the Tigers' annual "Class Outside Series" of events. Students attending will learn about the science that impacts Michigan weather, as well as how it can affect Detroit Tigers baseball. The pre-game program will feature weather related demonstrations by experts from Toledo's Imagination Station and includes meteorologists from the FOX 2 Weather Authority.
· The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by 92-year-old World War II Veteran, Ron Hanchett.
· The national anthem will be performed by the Woodhaven High School Warrior Marching Band, of Brownstown, Michigan.
