Tight races abound in NL All-Star voting
Molina passes Posey but leads by fewer than 5,000; Goldschmidt takes top spot at first base
The Cardinals have the best record in the Major Leagues, and they are getting lots of support in the latest National League update of voting on the 2015 Esurance All-Star Game Ballot, with four members in position to win starting roles in next month's All-Star Game.
The tightest race on the ballot is at catcher, where Cardinals backstop Yadier Molina (2,639,744) has edged back in front of San Francisco's Buster Posey (2,634,846) for the top spot. They are separated by only 4,898 votes.

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper (3,690,414) continues to lead the league in voting, followed by Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter (3,140,056).
Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday (2,693,412) has surged into third place in overall votes in the NL, while teammate Jhonny Peralta (2,441,384) remains in position to start at shortstop in the July 14 Midsummer Classic in Cincinnati.
There's another close race shaping up at first base, as Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt (2,010,049) has passed Dodgers veteran Adrian Gonzalez (1,882,725) for the lead.
Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton (1,743,271) is in line for the third outfield spot, with teammate Dee Gordon (2,226,127) leading St. Louis' Kolten Wong (2,113,069) in the race at second base.
Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford (1,821,037) trails Peralta, and teammate Nori Aoki (1,696,369) is the No. 4 outfielder in the voting.
Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo (1,149,133) is fourth in voting at his position, behind the Cardinals' Matt Adams (1,185,046), while teammate Kris Bryant (1,513,913) trails Carpenter in their race at third base.
Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- using the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, July 2, at 11:59 p.m. ET. For the first time, voting is exclusively online, where fans may submit up to 35 ballots.
