Locastro heads to Toronto in 13th round

The Blue Jays strayed from pitching for only the second time in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft in the 13th round, selecting Ithaca College shortstop Timothy Locastro with the 385th pick.

Locastro, 20, was coming off a spectacular sophomore season, and bested that as a junior, hitting .436, with a .553 on-base percentage, and four home runs, 36 RBIs and 71 runs scored in 48 games.

Locastro bats and throws right-handed, and has good speed, stealing 40 bases in 41 attempts.

The Division III prospect was named a Second-Team All-America by D3baseball.com.
