Seaver topping Mets Franchise Four vote, in mix for MLB honor

NEW YORK -- Tom Seaver, Mike Piazza, David Wright and Keith Hernandez currently lead the voting for the Mets' Franchise Four, with Tom Terrific ranking among the top four in the league-wide Greatest Living Players category, MLB announced Wednesday.
    
The Franchise Four campaign allows fans to vote for the most impactful players who best represent each Major League Franchise.
    
More than 11.8 million votes have been cast in the Franchise Four voting, and you can cast your ballot here. Voting ends on May 8, and winners from all 30 clubs will be announced at the 2015 All-Star Game, which will take place on July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

The other eligible candidates are Gary Carter, John Franco, Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry.

Seaver leads the overall Mets voting and is also fourth in the Greatest Living Players category alongside Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Sandy Koufax.
    
Seaver played for New York from 1967-1977 and 1983 and holds the franchise records for wins, earned run average, game started, innings pitched and strikeouts. He went 25-7 in 1969 to help lead the Mets to their first World Series in franchise history.
    
Piazza hit .296 with 220 home runs and 655 RBIs for the Mets from 1998 through 2005. Wright holds the franchise record for hits, doubles and RBIs. He's been with the franchise since 2004 and is one of 12 active players who appear among the leaders and remain with the club they represent.
    
Hernandez hit .297 over more than six seasons in New York, batted third for the 1986 World Series championship team and currently works as a broadcaster with the club.
