Top Area Readers to be Honored on the Field
at Phillies Be a Phanatic About Reading Night Presented by Comcast
Selected from nearly 50,000 students, the Top 10 Most Outstanding and Top 10 Most Improved readers in the Phillies' Be a Phanatic About Reading program will receive special recognition from the Phillies and Comcast on Friday, May 29
WHAT: Local students will be celebrated for their reading achievements in the Phillies' Be a Phanatic About Reading program presented by Comcast before the Phillies-Rockies game on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Citizens Bank Park.
- Selected from thousands of participants in the Phillies' Be a Phanatic About Reading literacy program presented by Comcast, this year's top 10 most improved and top 10 most outstanding readers in the program will take to the field and be recognized during a special on-field, pregame ceremony.
- Each student will be presented with a plaque for their reading achievements by the Phillie Phanatic.
- As part of the evening, all children 14 and under will receive a copy of The Phillie Phanatic's Spring Training, the newest book in the Phanatic's children's book series, compliments of Comcast. There will also be a book collection to benefit PHILADELPHIA READS at the entrance gates.
The Phillie Phanatic turned his love of reading into the Be a Phanatic About Reading literacy program presented by Comcast. Founded in 2004, the program encourages students in grades K-8 to read for a minimum of 15 minutes a day to improve their literacy skills. There are thousands of children currently enrolled in the program.
