Sierra day to day after leaving with back tightness

MINNEAPOLIS -- Blue Jays outfielder Moises Sierra is currently listed as day to day with tightness in his lower back.

Sierra was forced to depart Saturday night's 11-2 win against the Twins in the third inning after he felt some discomfort while striking out in an at-bat vs. right-hander Kevin Correia.

The 24-year-old finished the night 1-for-2 with a double, and he was eventually replaced in the lineup by veteran outfielder Rajai Davis.

"He just tweaked something in his side," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "He's had it before. I saw him grimacing a little bit. He should be alright tomorrow. We'll see. ... I noticed it on the swing, and I didn't want to take a chance."

Until Sierra returns, Davis will likely pick up the bulk of the workload in right field. That would keep rookie Kevin Pillar in the lineup at left, while Anthony Gose would continue to start in center.

Sierra is hitting .256 with seven extra-base hits and seven RBIs in 16 games this season. He spent most of the year playing for Triple-A Buffalo.
