Erlin, Dimock lead Triple-A El Paso to win

Decker hits 19th HR; Jankowski 2-for-4, slips to .536

With right-hander Brandon Morrow having his second rehab start cancelled with Triple-A El Paso Thursday night, the Chihuahuas made several moves that resulted in their eighth win in the past 10 games.

Left-hander Robbie Erlin (6.03 earned run average) came off the Pacific Coast League disabled list to hold Tacoma to one run on two hits with four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.

And right-handed reliever Michael Dimock, who was promoted from Double-A San Antonio earlier in the day when the Chihuahuas placed right-hander Cory Mazzoni on the seven-day disabled list, allowed a hit and walk with a strikeout in 2 1/3 scoreless innings to get the win.

Right-hander Jay Jackson (1.71 ERA) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings. Left-handed Frank Garces (1.35) issued a walk with a strikeout in an otherwise perfect inning.

Morrow cut off his rehab assignment to return to San Diego to have the returning soreness in his right shoulder examined.

Meanwhile, Travis Jankowski was 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in the Chihuahuas' 5-1 win at El Paso -- although the lead off hitter's batting average at Triple-A slipped to .536.

First baseman Cody Decker (.266) hit his 19th homer Thursday.

Shortstop-second baseman Ramiro Pena (.302) was 0-for-2, but hit two sacrifice flies. Designated hitter Alex Dickerson (.310) was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Left fielder Jake Goebbert (.278) was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

In a fourth move Thursday, the Chihuahuas sent right-handed reliever Aaron Northcraft to San Antonio.

El Paso is second in the PCL's Pacific Southern Division with a 55-50 record. The Chihuahuas trail Las Vegas by 3 1/2 games.

Two other Padres affiliates are on a roll. Low Single-A Fort Wayne has won three straight to move to a half-game of the second-half lead in the Midwest League's Eastern Division. And short-season Single-A Tri-City is tied for the second-half lead of the Northwest League's North Division after winning the first-half title.
