Tropeano goes again as Shoemaker wraps up rehab

ANAHEIM -- Nick Tropeano will make at least one more start for the Angels in place of Matt Shoemaker, who has been sidelined with right forearm tightness. Tropeano will start on Tuesday against the Mariners in Seattle.

The right-hander has made four starts for the Angels this season, but after a scoreless six-inning performance on April 23, he's struggled in his three outings since, pitching to a 7.98 ERA in 14 2/3 innings.

Shoemaker was scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Sunday, before the Angels' series finale against the Astros. If that goes well, manager Mike Scioscia said on Sunday, Shoemaker will throw a simulated game during the week. Assuming there are no further setbacks, the Angels will evaluate whether Shoemaker is ready to rejoin the rotation.

Scioscia said Shoemaker could return during the Angels' upcoming series against the Twins in Minnesota, which starts on Friday.
