Twins get good news on Duensing, May
Lefty reliever could return from DL during weekend; righty expected to make next start
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins received good news on both left-handed reliever Brian Duensing and right-hander Trevor May on Monday.
Duensing, who has been on the 15-day disabled list with a right intercostal strain since April 17, threw his first bullpen session without any issues. He'll throw in a simulated game at Target Field on Thursday, and could return to action as early as this weekend. He's eligible to come off the DL on Saturday.
"Duensing threw a side today of about 30 pitches and felt good," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "He'll face live hitters before the game on Thursday in the afternoon."
May, who was struck near his right elbow on a comebacker in Saturday's game against the Mariners, played long toss on Monday, and said he felt fine. The Twins remain optimistic he'll make his next start on Thursday against the White Sox, and is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
"It feels good -- 100 percent," May said. "Right now, my plan is to continue on like I'm throwing a bullpen tomorrow, the same as always. I don't expect anything to get worse. I'll just keep treating it today and see if I can completely get it gone in the next couple days."
