Twins place Mastroianni on DL, recall Arcia

MINNEAPOLIS -- Outfielder Darin Mastroianni, who was a late scratch from the lineup in the Twins' 8-6 victory over the Angels on Tuesday night, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a stress reaction in his left ankle after the game.

With Mastroianni going on the DL, outfielder Oswaldo Arcia was recalled from Triple-A Rochester just a day after being optioned to Triple-A after Monday's win over the Angels.

Mastroianni originally injured his ankle late in Spring Training, when he fouled a ball off of it, but re-aggravated the injury early this season. He did it again on Monday, when he tried to plant his foot while coming to a stop in the outfield, according to Twins manager Ron Gardenhire.

"They're going to put him in a walking shoe to keep him off his foot for a while here," Gardenhire said.

Arcia, ranked by MLB.com as the No. 92 overall prospect and No. 5 in the Twins' organization, went 1-for-3 in his big league debut on Monday but was optioned after the game, when Wilkin Ramirez was reinstated from the paternity list.

"He's coming back, and we're going to ad-lib with our outfield situation," Gardenhire said. "We'll play him whenever we can and get him in as many games as we can."
