Village of Whitefish Bay to rename park in honor of Craig Counsell
WaterTower Park will be dedicated as Craig Counsell Park in Saturday ceremony
MILWAUKEE, WI – The Village of Whitefish Bay will dedicate a park in honor of Craig Counsell in a ceremony on Saturday at 10 a.m. The 15-year MLB veteran and current Brewers Special Assistant to the General Manager is a native and current resident of the Milwaukee suburb.
Formally known as “Water Tower Park,” the newly dedicated “Craig Counsell Park” is the home to Whitefish Bay Little League teams. The park is located at 6330 N. Lydell Avenue in Whitefish Bay. Counsell along with the Famous Racing Sausages will attend the dedication.
Counsell is a 1988 graduate of Whitefish Bay High School. He went on to graduate from the University of Notre Dame in 1992 and was selected by Colorado in the 11th round of the 1992 First-Year Player Draft. He went on to enjoy
Counsell owns a career .255 batting average in 1,623 career games and scored the game-winning run in Game 7 of the 1997 World Series for the Florida Marlins. He was also a member of the World Series Champion Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001.
