What to watch for in today's games

All 30 teams are playing in what is sure to be an action-packed day from start to finish. Here are five things to watch for:

Lobstein enduring: MIN @ DET, 7:08 p.m. ET
Though he doesn't have the most name recognition in Detroit's star-studded rotation, left-hander Kyle Lobstein is the only Tigers starter to last at least seven innings in each of his past three starts. He'll get the nod against the Twins in an important mid-May series. Ricky Nolasco will throw for Minnesota.

Oberholtzer to make 2015 debut: SF @ HOU, 8:10 p.m. ET
After a blister landed him on the disabled list to begin the year, Houston lefty Brett Oberholtzer will make his first start of the season today against the defending World Series-champion Giants. The southpaw, who will face off against Tim Hudson, went 5-13 with a 4.39 ERA in 24 starts last season.

Reds TBD against the Braves: ATL @ CIN, 7:10 p.m. ET
It remains to be seen who will be called up to face the Braves today in a turn through the rotation that is the consequence of a rainout on Friday and the doubleheader that was played on Saturday vs. the White Sox. Left-hander Eric Stults, who had a season-high seven strikeouts in his last start, gets the ball for Atlanta.

Tough luck for Gallardo: KC @ TEX, 8:05 p.m. ET
Rangers right-hander Yovani Gallardo has had his share of bad luck lately, and now he gets to face the defending American League champs. Though opponents are hitting just .211 against Gallardo in his last four starts, he's 0-4 largely because the Rangers averaged 0.78 runs per nine innings in those four games. It will be Gallardo's first start against the Royals since 2007.

Shields teetering?: SD @ SEA, 10:10 p.m. ET
Big-time free-agent signee James Shields has delivered for the Padres this far, out to a 4-0 start. But the right-hander has yielded seven homers in his last two starts. The Mariners will look to exploit that tonight in this West Coast battle.
