Ventura ejected in top of first inning

CHICAGO -- White Sox manager Robin Ventura lasted just three batters into Tuesday's contest against the Tigers, ejected by first-base umpire Gary Darling. Ventura argued an error called on first baseman Adam Dunn during a rundown involving Torii Hunter, when Darling ruled that Dunn obstructed Hunter's path back to first base and awarded Hunter second base.

Hunter was breaking on a 3-2 pitch to Matt Tuiasosopo, but stopped halfway between first and second when Tuiasosopo swung through Hector Santiago's offering.

"[Hunter] had already given up running. I don't think Dunner was in his way," Ventura said. "It looked like he was already calling him out and Hunter's running off the field. Just agree to disagree."

It was Ventura's fifth career ejection and first this season.
