White Sox to wear 1983 throwback uniforms in 2013

30-Year Anniversary of Popular Team Includes Vintage Caps and Jerseys During Sunday Home Games; Tribute Also Features "Winning Ugly" Retro Racers

The Chicago White Sox will wear 1983 throwback uniforms during all Sunday home games in 2013.  The uniforms will feature the iconic red, navy blue and primary white pullover jersey with the block "S-O-X" across the chest, and a vintage patch on the left sleeve, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the All-Star Game, which was played at Old Comiskey Park.  The throwback uniforms also will include the still popular tri-color Sox cap.  The White Sox will wear the tribute uniforms on 13 Sundays this season, starting with April 7 vs. Seattle.

The "Winning Ugly" team won the American League West Division in 1983 with skipper Tony La Russa at the helm, led by players such as Sox legend Harold Baines, Hall of Fame Carlton Fisk, Rookie of the Year Ron Kittle, slugger Greg Luzinski and fan-favorite, as well as former White Sox broadcaster, Tom Paciorek.

"The 1983 White Sox remain a team that is near and dear to an entire generation of Chicago sports fans," said Brooks Boyer, White Sox senior vice president of sales and marketing.  "This season marks the 30 year anniversary of that Winning Ugly Sox team, and we plan to honor that fan favorite team with these special throwback uniforms and a 1983 version of the 'retro racers' that we first unveiled last season."

Also during Sunday home games in 2013, the White Sox will commemorate the 1983 team with a special retro race during the seventh inning of each game, similar to last season's tribute to the 1972 team.  This season's "Winning Ugly" retro race, which will be presented by Aldi, will include "Racing Harold" (Baines), "Racing Pudge" (Fisk) and "Racing Kitty" (Kittle) retro racers.

The 2012 White Sox promotional schedule includes five game dates commemorating the 1983 team.  Those promotions include: a 1983 White Sox Knit Bomber Hat giveaway (April 6); 1983 Harold Baines bobblehead, presented by Comcast SportsNet (April 27); 1983 White Sox Cap, presented by The PrivateBank (May 25); 1983 White Sox T-Shirt presented by U.S. Cellular (June 8); 1983 White Sox (XL) Kids Jersey, presented by Pepsi (June 9); and a 1983 Ron Kittle bobblehead, presented by Aldi (August 10).

The 2013 promotional schedule can be found at whitesox.com/promos.  The online promotional schedule will be updated as additional events, theme nights and giveaways are finalized or if any changes are made.

"Family Sundays," also a new White Sox fan experience in 2013, will feature seats in Bleacher, Outfield Reserved, Lower Corner and Premium Upper Box sections for $15, Upper Box and Upper Reserved Seats will be available for $10, and Upper Corner tickets will be priced at only $5.  Additionally, parking at U.S. Cellular Field parking lots on Sundays will be available for $10.  Ticket prices are for fans of all ages.

Individual-game tickets to all 2013 White Sox home games at U.S. Cellular Field are available at whitesox.com/Tickets, by phone at (866) SOX-GAME and at Ticketmaster locations throughout Chicagoland.
