Worth noting

• Injured lefty Ted Lilly threw a bullpen session on Saturday afternoon for the first time since he received an injection in his right rib cage on April 30.

• Injured second baseman Mark Ellis is nearing a rehab assignment, but he will not play in a game this weekend. The veteran has not played since he strained his right quad on April 26 against the Brewers. Ellis has yet to progress to sprinting full speed.

"They don't really want to waste all this time by sending him out there until he's ready to fire up and go full speed," Mattingly said. "I think he's getting closer all the time. He's not going backwards or staying the same."
