Worth noting

• Infante made his first rehab appearance with Class A West Michigan on Wednesday evening, going 1-for-3 with a single as the designated hitter. He was also hit by a pitch in his final at-bat.

Infante has been on the DL since July 4 with a sprained left ankle. The Tigers are hopeful he can play second base for the Whitecaps on Thursday and be available to join the big league club for the weekend series against the Phillies.

Reliever Darin Downs traveled with Infante to West Michigan, and he will make his first rehab appearance since being placed on the DL on July 7 (left shoulder rotator cuff tendinitis) when he throws on Thursday.

• FOX Sports Detroit PLUS will provide live coverage of batting practice on Saturday, before the game against the Phillies. It will be the first Tigers broadcast this year to feature the special coverage.

"Fans normally don't see what the Tigers players go through on a daily basis before a game," Greg Hammaren, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports Detroit, said in a statement. "Our show will bring the ballpark to fans with coverage of Tigers players' batting practice routines and show the opponent's BP during the show."

Coverage will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET, with broadcasters John Keating and Craig Monroe providing commentary and answering questions from Twitter using the #TigersBP hashtag. They will do the same on Aug. 3, when the Tigers play the White Sox.
