Worth noting

• With a bullpen that's been heavily taxed over the last few days, the Blue Jays had a potential fill-in closer in Brett Cecil for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Regular closer Casey Janssen and left-hander Aaron Loup weren't available after they appeared in the previous two games for Toronto.

"There's some guys we can't use tonight, some top guys. If we get a save situation, Cecil will probably do that," manager John Gibbons said. "Otherwise, you won't see any of those guys."
