Worth noting

• With nine strikeouts on Thursday night, the Twins passed the 2012 A's and moved into fourth place on Major League Baseball's all-time single-season strikeout list. The Twins have struck out a club-record 1,391 times this year, eight fewer than the 2001 Brewers.

• The Twins have 44 outfield assists this year, which leads the Majors. That's the third-highest total in team history, trailing their totals in 1983 (52) and 1984 (47). Minnesota last led the Majors in outfield assists in 1995.

• Rookie reliever Michael Tonkin has started his career with a 0.00 ERA in his first eight appearances. The right-hander has struck out 10 and walked two over 10 1/3 innings but has surrendered five unearned runs.
