• Top prospect Oscar Taveras connected for his first home run of the season in Memphis' 9-0 win on Friday night. Infielder Greg Garcia also homered twice in the Triple-A game. Right-hander Angel Castro pitched five scoreless innings.

• Five pitchers, including the organization's Minor League pitcher of the year Zach Petrick, combined to pitch a shutout for Double-A Springfield in its 1-0 win on Friday. Petrick struck out eight, walked one and gave up two hits in five innings.

Kolten Wong is the only Cardinals' player to have hit safely in each of the team's first four games. He and Matt Adams entered Saturday tied with a team-best .438 on-base percentage.
