• Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia needed a break, so he was out of the lineup for the series opener against the Reds on Thursday. Saltalamacchia had appeared in 10 of the Marlins' 13 games since the All-Star break, making nine starts -- one as a designated hitter. He's hitting .290 with four RBIs and 12 strikeouts in 31 at-bats in the second half.
