Goldberg 'like kid in candy store' at Citi Field

NEW YORK -- Although he realized that jeans and boots were not the ideal outfit for batting practice, Bill Goldberg -- a former professional football player who earned fame as a professional wrestler -- was still impressed that he hit one to the warning track at Citi Field.

"To step out on this hallowed field, man, it's freaking unbelievable," said Goldberg, who also threw out the first pitch before Tuesday night's game against the Cardinals. "It's a dream come true. I'm like a kid in a candy store."

Goldberg, while sporting a No. 95 jersey with his name on the back, said that Gary Carter is his favorite all-time Met.

He cited taking batting practice with Barry Larkin and Mark McGwire as one of the coolest experiences of his life.

Goldberg was in attendance to promote the upcoming Legends of Wrestling event at Citi Field on June 7, hosted by Metropolitan Hospitality. The event is scheduled to include such noted wrestlers as Bret Hart, Ric Flair, the Nasty Boys and Goldberg.

"My involvement with the Legends of Wrestling is purely to get back out to the fans," Goldberg said. "Because what I do now, it doesn't give me the opportunity as much as I really want to thank everybody who put me on this pedestal."
