McCann exits with cramping in right foot, calf

NEW YORK -- Yankees catcher Brian McCann was forced to leave Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers with cramping in his right foot and calf, but he is not concerned that it would cost him any more playing time.

McCann batted in the eighth inning, flying out to center field, and was replaced by John Ryan Murphy behind the plate for the ninth. McCann said that the issue started in the seventh.

"I was in my catcher's position and it just cramped up. My whole leg was cramped up," McCann said. "It almost felt like that feeling you get when you're asleep on your arm. Just trying to manage it."

McCann was 1-for-4 with a two-run double in the loss. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that he was concerned when the cramping moved into McCann's calf, but McCann said that it should be nothing to worry about.

"I'm coming in expecting to play [Monday]," McCann said. "Being squatted, there was no way to let it rest. When I was catching, it just wouldn't go away."
