Yankees claim RHP Mickey Storey off waivers

Add six others to 40-man roster

Earlier today, the Yankees claimed RHP Mickey Storey off waivers from the Houston Astros and added LHP Manny Banuelos, OF Ramon Flores, RHP Brett Marshall, RHP Jose Ramirez, LHP Francisco Rondon and LHP Nik Turley to their 40-man roster.
 
Storey, 26, made his Major League debut with the Astros in August 2012, going 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA (30.1IP, 13ER) in 26 relief appearances.  He began the 2012 season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he went 7-4 with two saves and a 3.05 ERA (65.0IP, 22ER) in 38 games (two starts) for the RedHawks.  Storey was originally selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 31st round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.
 
Banuelos, 21, was limited to six starts with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2012, going 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA (24.0IP, 12ER).  He was placed on the disabled list on May 19 with sore left elbow and missed the remainder of the season before undergoing “Tommy John” surgery on October 4.  Banuelos was originally signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on March 30, 2008.
 
Flores, 20, spent the majority of the 2012 season with Single-A Tampa, batting .302 (156-for-517) with 83R, 29 doubles, 6HR and 39RBI in 131 games.  He was promoted to Double-A Trenton on September 3 and appeared in one game, going 2-for-5 with 2R, 1HR and 2RBI.  Flores was originally signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on July 4, 2008.
 
Marshall, 22, spent the 2012 season with Double-A Trenton, going 13-7 with a 3.52 ERA (158.1IP, 62ER) and a team-leading 120K in 27 starts.  Marshall was originally selected by the Yankees in the sixth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.
 
Ramirez, 22, went 7-6 with a 3.19 ERA (98.2IP, 35ER) in 21 games (18 starts) with Single-A Tampa in 2012.  Ramirez was originally signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on October 10, 2007.
 
Rondon, 24, combined to go 5-0 with one save and a 3.93 ERA (71.0IP, 31ER) and 80K in 44 relief appearances with Single-A Tampa, Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.  He was originally signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on February 25, 2006.
 
Turley, 23, spent the majority of the 2012 season with Single-A Tampa, going 9-5 with a 2.89 ERA (112.0IP, 36ER) and 116K in 23 games (21 starts).  He was promoted to Double-A Trenton on September 3 and won his only start, allowing 3ER in 5.0IP.  Turley was originally selected by the Yankees in the 50th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.
 
Additionally, RHP Dave Herndon elected free agency in lieu of being outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.  The Yankees’ 40-man roster now stands at 39.
