In series of moves, Yanks designate Jones

Amidst a series of moves on Friday afternoon, the Yankees designated first baseman/outfielder Garrett Jones for assignment.

New York also reinstated outfielder Slade Heathcott from the 60-day disabled list and outrighted left-hander Chris Capuano to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Heathcott was also optioned to Triple-A.

Additionally, Dustin Ackley -- acquired Thursday in a trade with the Mariners -- will be available for the Yankees' Friday night game against the White Sox in Chicago.
