Puig set to begin Minors rehab assignment

Dodgers star will be DH on Thursday and play outfield Friday at Class A

MILWAUKEE -- Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig will be the designated hitter for Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday and play the outfield there Friday in a rehab assignment, manager Don Mattingly said Thursday.

Mattingly said Puig might also play on Saturday, depending on how the first two games go.

Puig is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring and is eligible to be activated on Sunday, when the Dodgers will be in Denver for the final game of a seven-game trip.
