Pittsburgh Pirates announce ticket on-sale plans for the 2021 season

Limited Inventory To Go On-sale As Team Prepares To Welcome Fans Back To PNC Park

As the Pittsburgh Pirates prepare for the return of fans to PNC Park, the Club today announced plans for the initial ticket on-sales for the first 12 home games, including the Home Opener on April 8. With a limited ballpark capacity of 20-percent to start the season, the Club will make tickets available on an approximate month-to-month basis in order to effectively manage ticket inventory and deliver upon the experience for fans.

The first phase of the ticket on-sale, which begins exclusively online today, Thursday, March 11, is a special presale for Pirates Full, Half and Partial Season Ticket Holders, Partial Flex Plan Ticket Holders and other credited ticket holder accounts.

The Pirates will then allow other loyal fans the opportunity to take part in the second phase of exclusive presales. Groups in this phase will include all Pirates Suite Holders, Corporate Partners, Pirates social media followers, Pirates.com Registered Users and others. The Pirates will notify each group directly with dates, times and other details in the coming days.

All remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, March 17, at 10 a.m. online at Pirates.com/tickets, or by calling 1-800-BUY-BUCS.

The Pirates are planning for approximately 20-percent capacity per game throughout the ballpark, with tickets being made available in seating pod allotments of two and four per transaction. All seating arrangements are being made in accordance with health and safety protocols with the recommended six feet of distance between pods throughout the ballpark.

This season, in an effort to limit touch points and provide the safest environment possible, the Pirates will make digital delivery of tickets the method for all fans to receive their tickets. This delivery method will take place via the MLB App, a free mobile app available in the Apple and Google Play stores. For easy and contactless entry into the ballpark, fans are asked to have their tickets ready on their mobile device in the MLB Ballpark app at the gate. The 12 games being made available during the initial on-sale span the first two homestands of the season. The home schedule begins with the Home Opener on Thursday, April 8 vs the Chicago Cubs at 1:35 p.m. The first month also includes matchups with the San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals.

The Pirates will soon announce a complete list of health and safety protocols for the 2021 season, which among other things will promote social distancing, implement new touchless systems throughout the ballpark, as well as require face coverings in-park at all times, unless actively eating and drinking.
