Full name RALPH GREGORY MILLIARD...Single... Resides in Amsterdam, Netherlands...Lived in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles until the age of 11 until moving to Amsterdam to attend a technical school...Played on the Dutch Junior National Team from 1988-90 and the Dutch National Team in 1990...Hails from the same home town (Willemsted, Curacao, Netherlands Antilles) as Atlantabs Andruw Jones.
2000
Spent the entire season at AAA Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League and participated in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia in September...Appeared in 52 games at shortstop, 46 games at second base and 13 games at third base...Was also 1 for 3 as a pinch-hitter w/an RBI... On the year he stole 18 bases in 27 attempts (66.7%). From July 1 thru the end of the season he hit .321 (54-168) with 9 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR & 18 RBI in 53 games to raise his average from .246 to .280...On the year he hit .292 (21-72) off LHP with 1 HR & 8 RBI and .278 (83- 299) off RHP with 4 HR & 32 RBI...He hit .303 (27-89) with runners in scoring position. Was a member of The Netherlands National Baseball Team that qualified for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia...During round-robin play he hit .174 (4-23) with 2 RS and 1 RBI in 6 games for The Netherlands...The Dutch did not medal in the games.

Began his first and only season in the Reds system on the disabled list with a strained back muscle...Was acquired by the Reds on 2/4 for P Mark Corey...Was outrighted to AA Chattanooga and played in only 32 games due to a left thumb ligament strain...Played 29 games at shortstop and compiled a .963 fielding %...Repre-sented The Netherlands at the pre-Olympic Intercontinental Cup, 11/3-14 in Sydney, Australia...Finished the tourney 4 for 21 (.190) with 3 walks and a steal in 7 games.
1998
Was acquired by the Mets as part of a deal for Al Leiter, 2/6...Led AAA Norfolk with a career-high 15 homers...Reached base in 51 straight games from 6/11-8/7, the longest such streak in the minor leagues in 1998...Earned a 9/1 call-up to the big leagues, appearing in 10 games for the Mets (5G at 2B, 1 G at SS).
1997
Began his 5th and final season with the Marlins organization at AAA Charlotte...Was hitting .282 with 3 HR & 15 RBI before being recalled to Miami on 5/7...Replaced the injured Luis Castillo before being optioned back to Charlotte on 5/21...Missed more than two months after undergoing surgery on his right elbow...Returned to action at AA Portland on 8/10...Combined to hit .348 with RISP and .431 off LHP in the minors.
1996
Earned his first trip to the major leagues on 5/10 after hitting .291 in 23 games at AAA Charlotte...Became just the 2nd native of Curacao, Netherlands Antilles to play in the major leagues when he made his debut on 5/12 vs. Colorado, joining Hensley Muelens (with Yankees from 1989-93)...Andruw Jones and Randall Simon have joined them since...Got his first hit, a bunt single off Steve Trachsel, in his first start on 5/18 at Chicago...Set a career-high with 2 hits at Shea Stadium on 6/7...Spent the final 3 weeks of the season with the Marlins.
1995
Playing for Portland, scored 104 runs to lead the AA Eastern League...The 104 runs were a team record and were the 3rd highest total in the minor leagues in 1995...Also ranked 2nd in the league with 85 walks...His 22 steals were a career-high...Set a Portland record by hitting in 19 straight games, 5/5-24...Was a AA All-Star... Led the Arizona Fall League with 40 RS and 34 walks after the season and was named to the All-Prospect Team.
1994
Hit a career-high .297 in 133 games for Kane County...Led the Midwest League with 97 runs scored and his 34 doubles ranked 3rd...Was named as a reserve on the Midwest League All-Star Team.
1993
Made his professional debut, hitting .234 in 53 games for the Marlinsb Gulf Coast League club in Melbourne...His 15 doubles tied for 2nd in the GCL, while he led league 2B in PO, assists, total chances and fielding %...Signed by Tim Smith (Marlins).
