Andrew Richard Good...he is a 1998 graduate of Rochester High School in Rochester Hills, MI, where he still
makes his residence.
2005
Signed as a Minor League free agent last winter, Good made his debut for the team he followed as a child when the Tigers called him up from Triple-A Toledo in mid-April. He tossed a scoreless inning April 18 at Baltimore before pitching four innings April 20 against the White Sox. He went 9-5 with a 3.68 ERA in 23 starts for the Mud Hens.
2003
Andrew was part of the 40-man roster to open the year thus experienced his first Major League Spring Training camp ... he was impressive enough in the spring session to spend a major portion of the first half of the season traveling back and forth on I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix ... Andrew opened the year with the Sidewinders, his first-ever action on the Triple-A level, albeit a brief stint since he made only 2 starts before being summoned to the majors ... after a no decision and a loss in his first 2 Triple-A experiences, Andrew received his first call to the big leagues on April 16 and 2 days later he debuted with a 0.1 inning at St. Louis ... his first major league start took place in an unusual environment as 36,879 fans appeared for Montreal's first game of the year in Canada on April 22, with Good allowing a pair of home runs in a 4-0 setback to Tomo Ohka and the Expos ... Andrew followed with a solid outing vs. Florida on May 1, permitting 3 runs on 6 hits over 7.0 frames in a no-decision the D-Backs eventually lost, 4-3 ... the long ball resurfaced again in his third start on May 6 vs. Philadelphia as all 5 runs he surrendered came via a trio of Philly home runs, including a pair of blasts by Jim Thome ... Good followed with a pair of relief appearances working 2.0 innings each time vs. Pittsburgh and San Francisco on May 16 & 20, respectively ... he was inserted back into the rotation for a May 26 start vs. San Diego, resulting in an 8-4 triumph for his first big league win, working 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 7 strikeouts ... following the game he was optioned back to Tucson to open a roster spot for Byung-Hyun Kim who was activated from the disabled list in time for a start the following day ... Andrew made only one start for Tucson before he was summoned back to the majors on June 4 when Curt Schilling was disabled with a hand fracture ... Good improved to 2-1 on the year despite working on only 3 days rest as he went 6.0 innings against the White Sox, yielding 5 hits and 3 runs ... he followed with a 4-3 win on June 11 at Kansas City, his third straight victory for the D-Backs ... Andrew had a trio of rough starts from June 17-July 1, permitting 13 runs on 20 hits over 16.1 innings ... included was a rough Coors Field initiation of Coors Field on July 1 as he was touched for 4 home runs in a 7-4 loss to the Rockies, the seventh pitcher in team history to allow 4 home runs in a game ... Andrew rebounded with a strong start at Dodger Stadium on July 6, defeating Hideo Nomo 2-1 in a nationally televised Sunday night game, allowing just an unearned run over 6.0 innings ... he appeared in only 2 more games for the D-Backs before returning to Tucson where he finished the year ... Andrew went 4-3 over his final 8 starts for the Sidewinders, posting a 5.15 ERA over that span ... opponents hit .265 against him in 58.0 innings as a starter, but he was not as fortunate in 8 appearances out of the pen, totaling 8.1 innings and allowing 8 runs on 14 hits for a .378 average against ... in the big leagues, he found success vs. right-handed batters as he limited them to a .245 average (39-for-159) while lefties batted .337 (35-for-104) off him ... Andrew was slated to pitch in the Arizona Fall League but it was decided to hold him out of action in order to rest his right elbow, which had undergone "Tommy John" surgery in 2000.

Andrew established himself as one of the Texas League's top prospects as named by SportsTicker...he led the
circuit in innings (178.0) and fewest walks per 9-innings for starters (1.26) while ranking second in wins (13), third
in strikeouts (127) and tenth in ERA (3.54)...he was named the Diamondbacks' organizational Pitcher-of-the-Month for
June after going 4-0 in 5 starts with a 2.16 ERA (8 ER in 33.1 IP), fanning 28 while walking 4...in August, he posted a
3-0 record in 5 starts, holding opponents to a .198 batting average (25-for-126)...on June 24 vs. Wichita, he worked 8.2
innings allowing just an unearned run in an 8-1 victory, opening the game with 4.0 perfect frames while sitting down 23
of the first 25 batters he faced...Andrew was named Texas League Pitcher-of-the-Week for June 24-30 after going 2-0 with
a 0.61 ERA (1 ER in 14.2 IP), 11 strikeouts and a walk...earned his second Player-of-the-Week award for July 8-14,
throwing his first career complete game shutout on July 11 vs. Midland, in which he fanned 7 batters and gave up 6
hits...he won 9 consecutive decisions from May 14-July 16, matching the sixth-longest streak in the minors...during the
streak, he posted a 2.40 ERA (22 ER in 82.2 IP), limited opposing hitters to a .221 clip (70-for-317) and struck out 61
batters while issuing 10 walks...he was rattled for 9 runs (2 earned) on 9 hits over 2.0 innings in a 17-8 defeat on
July 21 at Wichita...Andrew fired his second career complete game in an 8-1 victory on August 27 at Arkansas, allowing a
run on 4 hits...he was especially tough in the first inning, limiting opponents to a .175 average (17-for-97) while
striking out 19 hitters and walking 1...among Arizona's minor leaguers, he tied for third with 127 strikeouts, ranked
fourth with 13 victories and finished seventh with a 3.54 ERA.
2001
He tied for second in the farm system with 10 wins and finished fourth with 150 strikeouts...he opened the
season 4-0 in his first 7 starts...he had a pair of 10-strikeout games, April 20 vs. Visalia and June 25 at Rancho
Cucamonga...he pitched 7.0 scoreless innings, fanning 9, at Round Rock on July 31 for his first AA win.
2000
He missed the entire season after undergoing "Tommy John" ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow.
1999
Andrew was named organizational Pitcher-of-the-Year, finishing third in the Midwest League in strikeouts (146)...he tied for the farm system lead in strikeouts, tied for second in victories (11) and ranked fifth in ERA (4.10)...he fanned 13 in 7.0 hitless innings vs. West Michigan on August 23. 1998-He was named the Arizona League Pitcher-of-the-Week for August 24-30.
