Was born in Atlanta, GA, but grew up in Pembroke Pines, FL, a suburb just 22 miles north of Miami...Played at the University of South Florida and hit a home run in his first collegiate at-bat. Made 2018 AllAmerican Athletic Conference First Team as a junior in 2018 after setting a conference record with 24 doubles and finishing second with a .374 average...Attended American Heritage School in Plantation, Fla., the same institution attended by Giants first base coach Antoan Richardson. Made varsity as an 8th grader...His six HRs in September were tied for the third-most by SF rookie in the month of September (Tom Haller & Buster Posey with seven)…Villar was 3 years old when he played in his first T-ball league...At the University of South Florida, Villar received a criminology degree after finishing the last remaining credits during the pandemic. He intends to go to law school one day, either to enter sports law or to become a prosecutor.

Enjoyed a breakout season in his first year with San Francisco...Split the year between San Francisco and Triple-A Sacramento...Started the year with Sacramento and hit .284 (65-for229) with 15 doubles, 21 home runs and 62 RBI in 66 games with the River Cats before earning a promotion...His 21 home runs at the time of his promotion were the most in the Pacific Coast League and his 62 RBI ranked as the second-most...Had his contract purchased on July 4 and made his Major League debut that night at Arizona, going 2-for4 with a double and an RBI...Hit his first Major League home run on July 8 at SD...was named to the Futures Game on July 7, but did not participate due to being on the Major League roster...Was sent back down to Triple-A on Aug. 4 and recalled on Sept. 1 when rosters expanded to 28 players...Over his final 26 games of the year, he slashed .291/.351/.616 with four doubles, eight homers and 17 RBI...was 8-for-18 (.444) over his final six games and slugged two homers in SF's final game of the year...His six home runs in September were tied for the third-most by SF rookie in the month of September (Tom Haller & Buster Posey with seven)…Went 6-for-8 with four runs, three homers and five RBI over the Giants three-game set at Dodger Stadium from Sept. 5-7...his 2.653 OPS in the series was the highest OPS by any MLB rookie in a three-game series in the modern era (minimum 8 AB)…Finished the season with two multi-homer games: Sept. 7 at LAD and Oct. 5 at SD...Combined to hit 36 homers through the year between Triple-A and SF...In 84 games for Sacramento, he posted a 1.021 OPS (led PCL) with 19 doubles, one triple, 27 homers and 82 RBI.
