Jose Prade Macias...graduated from the Instituto Technologico in 1991 in his native Panama.

2006

Played for the Japan Series-winning Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters...hit .229 with 21 RBI in 73 regular-season games... following season, hit .313 with a homer and 11 RBI in 22 games with Caracas of the Venezuelan Winter League.

2005

Hit his first and only home run Sept. 28 against the Pirates. It was his first since Sept. 27, 2004. Batted .185 (10-for-54) as a pinch-hitter. Played second, third, and all outfield positions.

2004

Jose hit .268 with 3 home runs and 22 in 98 games for the Cubs in 2004...batted .213 (10-47) with 6 RBI as a pinch hitter...appeared at five different positions - playing in 18 games at third base (7 starts), 16 games at second base (8 starts), 13 games in right field (7 starts), 8 games in left field (3 starts) and 7 games in center field (3 starts.)...hit .355 over his final 17 games (11-31)...also had 7 RBI in that span...had a game-winning hit August 1 vs. Philadelphia - a run scoring infield single in the 7th inning...went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI and triples from both sides of the plate May 14 at San Diego...was the first Cub to triple from both sides of the plate since the advent of divisional play in 1969.

2003

Jose hit .239 with 4 homers and 22 RBI in 111 games in his final year with Montreal...was second on the club with 10 pinch hits, including his fourth career pinch homer - a September 9 solo shot off the Cubs' Joe Borowski in Puerto Rico...appeared at five different positions - playing in 41 games in leftfield (25 starts), 25 games at third base (16 starts), 15 games in centerfield (10 starts), 8 games in rightfield (2 starts) and 4 games at second base. also served as the Expos' emergency catcher, but was not called upon in that role...on April 26 vs. Houston, he tagged Billy Wagner for a game-winning solo home run in a 3-2 contest. also drove in the game-winning run September 10 vs. the Cubs, hitting a 2-run pinch double off Kyle Farnsworth...hit safely in a career-best 9 straight games from June 11-June 21, batting .433 with 1 homer and 6 RBI.

2001

• Spent first full season in the majors, appearing in 137 games...named Tigers Player of the Month for April...second on team with 21 stolen bases...successful in 78 percent of steal attempts (21-of-27)...third in AL in putting 23.9 percent of pitches seen in play (445/1865)...tied for fourth among league third basemen in turning 23 double plays...119 starts came at five positions for the Tigers in 2001 -- second base, third base, left field, center field and right field.
• Came out of the gates with offensive power, hitting safely in 14 of his first 17 games (.379, 22x58)...earned Tigers Player of the Month honors for April with a .355 average, four home runs, four doubles, a triple and eight RBI.
• Drilled a double in his first pinch-hit appearance, April 9 at Minnesota...also scored a run.
• Collected the first of his 33 multi-hit games with a 2x3 effort April 11 at Minnesota, his first 2001 start at third base.

• Opened the season with Triple A Toledo as the Mud Hens' starting center fielder
• Hit safely in his first 11 games of the season, batting .356 (16x45) with seven runs, two doubles and three RBI
• Finished the month of April hitting .284 (23x81) with 12 runs, five doubles and seven RBI
• Had his contract purchased from Toledo May 3 ; made his first start May 12, his first of 17 consecutive starts at second base
• Collected three hits, falling a home run shy of the cycle, and drove in two runs versus the Yankees May 13
• Posted a career-best six-game hitting streak May 17-24; hit .375 (9x24) with five RBI during the streak
• Appeared four times as a pinch-hitter and three times as a defensive replacement at second base during June before being optioned to Toledo June 24

• His first and only Major League hit was a pinch home run off Cleveland's Steve Reed on May 15 at Tiger Stadium
• Was optioned back to Toledo on May 21 but returned to Detroit on June 24 when Gregg Jefferies was placed on the DL; made one appearance as a pinch runner on June 26 versus Minnesota and was optioned back to Toledo on June 28
• Appeared in 112 games for the Mud Hens, third-most on the team; was one of five Mud Hens to collect 100-or-more hits, the third consecutive season he has done so
• Tied for the team lead with eight triples, two short of his career-best set in 1998
• Ranked fourth for Toledo with 10 stolen bases, nine of them coming before June 12
