2006

Made his Major League debut with the A's in 2006 and hit .292 during an eight-game stint in June...Was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on June 9 and made his Major League debut that night at New York with a start at second base...Went 3 for 3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in his debut...Became the first Athletic to collect three hits in his debut since Ben Grieve on September 3, 1997...Singled in his first ML at bat off Randy Johnson in the third inning...Collected his first RBI the next day with a two-run single in the fifth inning...Started all three games of the series at New York and was 4 for 11 (.364) with two RBI...Ended up making six starts at second base for the A's and was 7 for 24 (.292) with three doubles and two RBI in eight games total when he was optioned back to Sacramento on June 30...Spent the balance of the season with the River Cats where he batted .258 with six home runs and 47 RBI in 99 games...The batting average was the lowest mark of his career as was his .377 slugging percentage...Hit .271 (70 for 258) against RHP and .218 (19 for 87) against LHP...Had his best season as a professional on defense as he committed just eight errors in 98 games at shortstop... Spent most of his first season in the Oakland organization at Double-A Midland although he was promoted to Triple- A Sacramento following the end of the Rockhounds season...batted a combined .302 which was the fourth best batting average in the A's farm system...had career highs in batting, games (131), at bats (464), runs (77), hits (140), doubles (33), triples (3), RBI (54), walks (63), strikeouts (83) and on-base percentage (.393) and matched his best in stolen bases (7)...hit .300 with three home runs and 53 RBI in 129 games at Midland...added 63 walks for a .392 on-base percentage...was second in the Texas League in on-base percentage, fourth in walks and tied for sixth in batting average... led Midland in doubles (33) and sacrifice hits (13) and was second in walks (63) and hit by pitches (9)...his batting average included a .330 (33 for 100) mark against left handers and .291 (104 for 357) against right handers...hit .312 (39 for 125) with runners in scoring position and was 6 for 16 (.375) with the bases loaded...hit at every spot in the order except first and fourth and had his best success hitting seventh (37 for 98, .378)...all of his defensive appearances came at shortstop (122), but he also hit .350 (7 for 20) in six games at designated hitter and was 0 for 2 as a pinch hitter...committed 19 errors in his 122 games at shortstop for a .967 fielding percentage (572 total chances)...hit just three home runs and all three came on the road against right handed pitching...two of them came in the same inning on May 11 at San Antonio...homered twice in the second inning of the Rockhounds 12-8 win and finished with five RBI...did not homer over his final 95 games and 337 at bats...had his average at an even .300 on May 11 but went 2 for 22 (.091) over his next eight games before putting together an 11-game hitting streak from May 19 to 30 (15 for 43, .349)...then went 1 for his next 21 which dropped his average to .262 on June 7...went 15 for 31 (.484) over his next eight games and ended up batting .316 (25 for 79) in 23 games in June...had his lone four-hit game of the season on July 12 at El Paso...had a 10-game hitting streak from July 29 to August 9 (16 for 37, .432)...had his best month of the season in August as he hit .351 (33 for 94) with 10 doubles, 14 RBI and 16 walks in 26 games...was moved up to Sacramento on August 31 and went 3 for 7 (.429) in two regular season games for the River Cats...then went 0 for 8 with five strikeouts in four post season games...played for the USA Olympic Qualifying Team following the season and hit .361 (13 for 36) with a home run and seven RBI in 12 exhibition games in the Arizona Fall League...then hit .308 (4 for 13) in four games in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Panama.

Started his second professional season at Double-A Tennessee of the Southern League but appeared in just 71 games...was on the disabled list from April 26 to July 1 with a right hand fracture...batted .260 with nine home runs and 43 RBI...batted in every spot in the order except leadoff...appeared in 66 games at shortstop but was also 1 for 3 in one game at designated hitter and 0 for 2 with two walks as a pinch-hitter...was 5 for 8 (.625) with 13 RBI with the bases loaded, including a grand slam on July 13 at Chattanooga...hit .236 with a home run and nine RBI in 14 games before breaking his hand...hit .297 in his first 29 games following his return through August 3...then went 20 for 85 (.235) over his final 28 games.

2001

Began his professional career at Single-A Dunedin of the Florida State League and batted .272 with five home runs and 24 RBI in 48 games...had a .472 slugging percentage which is the best of his career...appeared in 29 games at second base and 23 at shortstop and committed a combined five errors...batted .200 against left handed pitching and .293 against right-handers...had an 11-game hitting streak from August 13 to 23 (15 for 41, .366).
