Bay Area native comes to Giants camp as non-roster invitee after signing minor league free agent deal over winter...originally Oakland's 1st round pick (32nd overall) in 1997 First Year Player Draft, 8-year professional owns .276 lifetime avg. with 22 home runs, 214 RBI and 207 stolen bases in 626 minor league contests...has played in both Oakland (1997-99) and Anaheim (1999-2003) farm systems. Graduated from Pinole Valley (CA) High School in 1997...is nephew of Pointer Sisters singing group...father, John Haynes, was triple-jumper in 1980 Olympic trials...single.
2007
Broke into Majors after 10+ seasons in minors...Appeared in 40 games with Angels batting .267 (12/40) with one triple and one RBI...Made first Major League start, June 6 vs. Minnesota (RF)...Made ML debut as CF in 8th inning, May 28 vs. Seattle - collected first ML hit with single in 9th inn...Had contract purchased from Salt Lake May 28 and remained with Angels through end of season...Hit .386 (66/171) with 33 runs scored, nine doubles, six triples, four home runs, 32 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 44 games at Salt Lake... Was leading Pacific Coast League in average, hits, triples and on-base percentage (.466)...Originally selected by Oakland in first round (32nd pick) of 1997 free agent draft...Originally acquired by Angels from A's in five-player trade, July 29, 1999...Rejoined Angels organization, June 22, 2006 after stint in Giants organization...Has undergone eight surgeries in his career..

Played at 2 highest levels of Anaheim minor league chain, splitting year between double-A Arkansas and triple-A Salt Lake...combined to hit .276 (136-for-492) with 75 runs, 19 2Bs, 13 3Bs, 6 HRs, 49 RBI and 33 stolen bases in 119 contests...established career standards in 2Bs, 3Bs, HRs and RBI...spent majority of year with Arkansas, hitting .296 with 5 HRs and 42 RBI over 91 games...earned Aug. promotion to Salt Lake, where he hit .217 with HR and 7 RBI in 28 outings.

Split season between single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Salt Lake after starting year on Disabled List...was placed on DL April 4 with partially torn ligament in left thumb...opened year on rehab assignment at Rancho Cucamonga June 1-14...spent remainder of year at triple-A, hitting .283 with 37 runs, 16 2Bs, 6 3Bs, 2 HRs and 12 RBI in 67 games...played with Scottsdale Scorpions in Arizona Fall League following campaign.

Had productive season at Arkansas which was cut short due to right knee sprain...hit .310 with 49 runs, 11 2Bs, 5 3Bs, 5 HRs and 23 RBI in 79 games for Texas League champions...led Travelers with 33 stolen bases, finishing 4th in league...hit .346 (9-for-26) with 5 runs, 2B and RBI in 6 TL Playoff contests...was on DL April 30-June 22 with right knee sprain.

Spent campaign with double-A Erie of Eastern League after beginning season as non-roster invitee to Angels' Spring Training...led SeaWolves with career-high 37 stolen bases and ranked 2nd on club in runs (56), hits (116) and 3Bs (4).
1999
Split season between 2 organizations and 3 teams...opened year with single-A Visalia in Oakland organization...did not play with Visalia until June 15 while recovering from left groin injury...appeared in 35 games for Oaks before being traded to Anaheim July 29 with OF Jeff DaVanon and RHP Elvin Nina in exchange for RHP Omar Olivares and IF Randy Velarde...was assigned to single-A Lake Elsinore, where he hit .327 in 26 contests...was promoted to Erie, where he appeared in 5 games.
