TRENT JOHN DURRINGTON...makes his off-season home in Queensland, Australia with wife Aly...according to the Elias Sports Bureau, is the first major leaguer with the first name Trent...graduated from the Southport School in 1993...did not play baseball until the age of 14.
2005
The 13-year veteran was a Pacific Coast League All-Star with the Brewers' Triple-A Nashville affiliate, batting .300 with 61 runs scored and 30 steals in 92 games...enjoyed a pair of stints with Milwaukee June 25-August 13 and September 17-October 2, appearing 17 times as a pinch hitter, 10 times as a pinch runner and once as a defensive replacement at third base...went 3-for-13 (.231) as a pinch hitter, including a pair of game-tying RBI singles July 1 (7th inning) and July 2 (5th inning) vs. Pittsburgh...at Nashville, played 39 games at third base, 13 at second, 12 at first, 8 at shortstop and 17 in the outfield...was 30-for-42 in stolen base attempts...his straight steal of home April 25 vs. Iowa gave Nashville a 5-4 walk-off win in the 9th...the pitcher on the mound was Jermaine Van Buren...belted his first homer of the year May 16 vs. Las Vegas to snap a homer drought of 264 at-bats dating to June 18, 2004...had a team season-high 17-game hitting streak June 7-August 16, batting .358 (24-for-67) to raise his average to .294 from .268...scored at least one run in 16 of the 17 games, scoring 19 times in all...the streak followed a 1-for-25 stretch over his previous 6 starts May 31-June 6...hit safely in his final 10 regular season contests, batting .425 (17-for-40) with 9 runs and 8 steals...batted .294 (10-for-34) with a homer, 5 RBI and 2 steals in 8 post-season games during Nashville's run to the PCL championship...batted leadoff and played first base in each contest...his home run was a solo shot in the 5th inning of Game 4 of the semi-final series vs. Oklahoma, capping the scoring in a 3-1 win that staved off elimination.
2004
Split the season between Milwaukee and Triple-A Indianapolis, batting .232 in 53 games over 3 stints with the Brewers and .222 in 51 games with Indy...made the Brewers' Opening Day roster and appeared in 27 games (2 starts), going 6-for-31 (.194) until being optioned June 12...made his big league pitching debut in a 14-5 loss April 17 at Houston, retiring the only man he faced, Jose Vizcaino, on a fly ball to right field...had a pinch-hit solo homer in the 6th inning May 26 vs. Los Angeles for his first big league long ball...it tied the game at 1-1 before the Brewers went on to win 2-1 in 12 innings...optioned to Indy June 12...was then recalled August 1, and went 10-for-34 (.294) in 14 contests (7 starts) through August 28, when he was optioned back to Indianapolis...made the jump one last time September 7, and appeared in 12 games (2 starts), going 3-for-17 (.176)...started 11 big league games in all, including 7 at third base, 3 at second and one as the designated hitter...with Indianapolis, was 17-for-22 in stolen base attempts...played 32 games at second, 9 at third, one at first, 6 in left and 3 as the DH.
2003
Batted .304 with 27 doubles, 54 RBI, 81 runs and 35 steals in 117 games with Anaheim's Triple-A Salt Lake club before having his contract purchased August 20 and spending the rest of the year with the big league club...had a pinch-hit single that night at Chicago (AL) in his first major league plate appearance since May 13, 2000...appeared in 12 games (2 starts) with the Angels, going 2-for-14 (.143) with an RBI...with Salt Lake, played every position but shortstop, center field and pitcher, including a high of 57 contests at second base...was 35-for-43 in steal attempts...batted .304 against both righthanders (101-for-332) and lefties (35-for-115)...reached via hit or walk in 24 straight games May 18-June 11, and in 39 of 41 games May 18-June 28...hit safely in his final 7 games of that stretch June 21-28, batting .467 (14-for-30) with 12 runs...hit .300 (21-for-70) with 13 walks and 12 runs over the last 18 games before his promotion.
2002
Spent the majority of the year at Double-A Arkansas, batting .246 with 18 doubles, 59 runs and 25 steals in 107 games...enjoyed a pair of stints at Triple-A Salt Lake, where he hit .206 in 19 games...batted .246 (44-for-179) with 21 walks in 48 contests until his May 27 promotion to Salt Lake...appeared in 15 games, and hit just .170 (9-for-53)...6 of his 9 hits went for extra bases, including 3 home runs...returned to Arkansas June 26, and hit .259 (50-for-193) with 30 runs sin 59 games until August 28, when he was promoted back to Salt Lake...was 5-for-15 (.333) in a 4-game series vs. Memphis to close out the year.
2001
Released by the Dodgers May 11 after hitting .218 in 22 games with Triple-A Las Vegas...signed by the Angels the next day and reported to Double-A Arkansas, where he clubbed 4 homers in first 10 games...went on to hit .291 with 10 homers, 35 RBI and 22 steals in 51 games to earn a promotion to Triple- A Salt Lake July 14...went 2-for-2 with 2 doubles, a walk and an RBI in his first game the next night vs. Iowa...batted .328 with 21 RBI and 20 runs in 39 games the rest of the way...made his first professional pitching appearance May 7 with Las Vegas at Edmonton, allowing 2 runs on a pair of hits in 1.0 inning of work...combined to steal 32 bases in 39 tries with his 3 clubs...also played every position on the field at least once.
2000
Was limited to just 32 games, including 4 with the Angels and 28 with Triple-A Edmonton, because of a left knee strain...batted .219 with 16 walks, 19 runs and 8 steals at Edmonton...was recalled May 9, and appeared in 4 games (one start) before being optioned back May 16...sustained the injury May 22 vs. Tucson, and was placed on the D.L. 3 days later...did not play again, and was released August 29.
1999
Hit .288 with 26 doubles, 84 runs and 59 steals in 107 games with Double-A Erie before having his contract purchased by the Angels August 6 for his major league debut...remained with the big club for the rest of the year, batting .180 (22-for-122) over 43 games (36 starts)...made his debut August 6 vs. Boston, starting at second base and going 1-for-4...singled off Bret Saberhagen in the 2nd inning in his first plate appearance...became the 7th Australian-born player to appear in the majors...recorded a hit in each of his first 5 games, including a pinch hit August 8 vs. Boston...all 36 starts were at second base...recorded his first big league RBI September 7 vs. Chicago (AL), a run-scoring double in a 6-run 4th inning...with Erie, ranked 2nd in the Eastern League in stolen bases...compiled 14 multi-steal games, including a season-high 3 July 18 at Akron...hit .331 (44-for-133) against lefthanders...batted .333 (39-for-117) with 29 runs over his last 32 games July 2-August 4 prior to his promotion.
1998
Batted .225 with 50 walks and 62 runs in 112 games with Anaheim's Double-A Midland club...ranked 2nd on the team with 24 steals...saw time at second base, third base, shortstop and at all 3 outfield positions.
1997
Played 123 games at Single-A Lake Elsinore, batting .247 with 21 doubles, 51 walks and 60 runs scored...ranked 4th in the California League with 52 stolen bases.
1996
Split the season between short-season Single-A Boise and Single-A Cedar Rapids, hitting a combined .270 with 50 runs and 39 steals in 65 games...led the short-season Single Northwest League with 24 stolen bases...batted .279 in 40 games with Boise before an August 1 promotion to Cedar Rapids...went on to hit .250 in 25 games, while walking 33 times and striking out just 20 times.
