Twenty-four-year-old William Contreras played in his second big league campaign in 2021...He hit .215 (35-for-163) with eight home runs, 23 RBI and 19 runs across 52 games...Appeared in 52 games this season after playing in only four last season...Hit his first major league home run May 5 at Washington off of Erick Fedde...Appeared in 44 games for Triple-A Gwinnett, posting a .290 batting average (45-for-155) with 29 RBI and 26 runs scored.

2020

Made his major-league debut with a four-game stint in Atlanta to begin the season…Went 4-for10 (.400) with one double and one RBI...Spent the rest of the season at the alternate training site...Is one of nine catchers in Braves history to open their career by collecting at least four hits in their first four career games… Of the nine on the list, Contreras’ 10 plate appearances are the fewest…Del Crandall, Evan Gattis and Luke Urban all had a record five hits in this period...Made the Braves’ Opening Day roster…Debuted in Atlanta’s opener, on 7/24 at NYM, as a defensive replacement…At 22 years, 213 days, became the youngest Braves catcher to debut since Jarrod Saltalamacchia did so on his 22nd birthday, 5/2/07... Played for High-A Florida (50 G) and Double-A Mississippi (60 G), batting .255/.315/.354 (97- for-381) with 20 doubles, six home runs, 29 RBI and 50 runs scored in 110 games…Defensively, combined to throw out 32 of 98 would-be basestealers (32.7 percent)...Named a Florida State League Mid-Season AllStar after hitting .263 (50-for-190) with three home runs and 22 RBI in 50 games to open the season…Was promoted to Double-A on 6/5 and spent the rest of the season with Mississippi...The Braves selected his contract on 11/19...Finished the year ranked by MLB.com as Atlanta's No. 8 prospect, including the second-best catching prospect (Shea Langeliers).

2018

Split the season between Single-A Rome and High-A Florida, combining to bat .285/.347/.436 in 105 games between the two stops...Ended the season in the Top 10 among Braves farmhands (min. 200 PA) in doubles (T5th, 24), runs (T7th, 57), average (8th, .285), OPS (8th, .783), hits (9th, 111) and home runs (T9th, 11)...Was named Rome's Player of the Month for July, and was named a South Atlantic League PostSeason All-Star.

2017

Named rookie-level Danville's Player of the Year and an Appalachian League All-Star after batting .290/.379/.432 with 15 extra-base hits and 25 RBI in 45 games...Reached base at a .379 clip, which was the third-highest rate among Braves farmhands (minimum 150 at-bats)...Batted .351/.419/.595 in 37 at-bats as the designated hitter, compared to a .273 (36-for-132) mark with a .391 slugging percentage in 132 at-bats playing catcher.
