Feeling better, Grimm ready to pitch out of bullpen

ARLINGTON -- Rangers right-hander Justin Grimm, who left his last outing in Detroit on July 12 with tightness in his right forearm, had a light bullpen session on Friday and said he's ready to pitch again.

"I did some rehab during the All-Star break and it got better every day," Grimm said Saturday. "I had a light bullpen yesterday and everything felt good. I'm ready to rock."

He will do so out of the bullpen as the Rangers' long reliever. Grimm is 7-7 with a 6.27 ERA in 17 starts, including 2-4 with a 9.91 ERA in his last eight starts, so the Rangers are moving him into the bullpen for now. Ross Wolf started against the Orioles on Saturday night and the Rangers have two more rotation moves coming. They are planning to activate Yu Darvish off the disabled list on Monday and Alexi Ogando on Tuesday.

Ogando threw a bullpen session without a problem on Saturday. The Rangers are waiting until they see how he recovers on Sunday before officially designating him as Tuesday's starter. Grimm would be an option if Ogando is not ready.

The Rangers also have two roster moves to make when Darvish and Ogando come off the disabled list. At that point, the Rangers could send Grimm back to Triple-A so he can get regular work as a starter.
