Rangers choose Olmstead in 13th round

The Rangers took outfielder Taylor Olmstead with the 400th overall selection in the 13th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft on Saturday.

Olmstead attended Greenwich High in Connecticut. According to Maxpreps, Olmstead hit .338 in 24 games with a .402 on-base percentage. Olmstead is listed at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and plays right field.

Olmstead also played football in high school as a safety and tight end. He's committed to play baseball at UConn.
