Rangers place LHP Joe Saunders on 15-day disabled list; recall RHP Daniel McCutchen from Frisco

Boston, Massachusetts - The Texas Rangers announced today that LHP Joe Saunders has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 5, with a bruised left ankle.

To replace Saunders, RHP Daniel McCutchen has been recalled from Double-A Frisco of the Texas League.

Saunders was forced to leave his first start of the year on Friday at Tampa Bay, where he was hit on the left ankle by an Evan Longoria line drive with two out in the fourth inning. Saunders took the loss in an 8-1 defeat, allowing six hits and five runs/four earned runs in his 3.2 inning stint.

McCutchen is making his second stint with Texas this season. He was with the club from April 1-4 and allowed three runs/two earned runs in 2.1 innings against Tampa Bay on Friday in his only appearance. He did not appear in a game for Frisco.

With today's moves, the Rangers major league roster remains at the 40-man limit.
