Play it Safe at Target Field

Baseball is back, Downtown Minneapolis is proudly open for business, and the Minnesota Twins are thrilled to safely welcome our fans, in a limited capacity, into Target Field for the 2021 season!

When the ballpark gates re-open on April 8, the Twins, working closely with our public and private partners, are focused on welcoming our guests, players and staff to a safe game day experience Target Field.

Please see below for more information regarding Downtown Minneapolis; getting to and from the ballpark; and enhanced health and safety policies and procedures at Target Field for the 2021 season that adhere to requirements and guidelines established by Major League Baseball (MLB), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Minneapolis Health Department (MHD).

DOWNTOWN MINNEAPOLIS: OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Minneapolis is proudly open for business. The Minnesota Twins, together with our city, community and law enforcement partners, are working to deliver a safe, secure and welcoming environment in Downtown Minneapolis and at Target Field on April 8 and throughout the 2021 season.

  • The Twins are actively collaborating with the City of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Downtown Council, community leaders, and law enforcement agencies, including the Minneapolis Police Department, the Hennepin and Anoka County Sheriff’s Offices, and Metro Transit Police, to continue providing a safe and enjoyable Target Field experience for our fans, players and staff in 2021.
  • Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, in conjunction with city and community leaders, have created and implemented coordinated and comprehensive preparation and security plans for the City of Minneapolis regarding the upcoming State of Minnesota vs. Derek Chauvin trial (Chauvin trial), and beyond. Up to 1,110 law enforcement officers and 2,000 Minnesota National Guard members may be deployed under this plan.
  • Minneapolis-St. Paul has hosted numerous high-profile events, including the MLB All-Star Game, Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four and the 2008 Republican National Convention. Our region’s city, community and law enforcement leaders have significant experience cooperating on major events to keep residents, employees and property safe, while allowing for peaceful protests.

  • The Twins are taking proactive, collaborative steps to provide a safe and fun atmosphere in and around Target Field that meets the standards our fans, players and staff expect and deserve.
  • The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office will provide in-ballpark law enforcement coverage during the upcoming Chauvin trial; they are supplemented by Event Security officers to provide enhanced security patrols and coverage at Target Field.

GETTING TO AND FROM TARGET FIELD

The Minnesota Twins know that game day means more than the action on the field; it is the entire driveway-to-driveway experience. The Twins and our partners are dedicated to giving our fans a safe, quality baseball experience.

Driving

  • At this time, there are no projected road closures that will affect fans’ ability to get to and from Target Field during the Chauvin trial. The Twins are collaborating with the City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Police Department to expedite game day vehicle ingress and egress. Parking

  • The Twins, in collaboration with MPLS Parking and the City of Minneapolis, are happy to provide preferred game day parking options for Target Field event attendees in Ramps A and B (at the reduced rate of $12) and the Hawthorne Ramp (at a special price of $10) throughout the 2021 season.   • Ramp A (located off Glenwood Ave. and N. 10th St.), Ramp B (off 2nd Ave N. and N. 5th St.) and the Hawthorne Ramp (off N. 10thSt. and Hawthorne Ave.) are all easily accessible from major freeways and are connected to both Target Field and many Downtown Minneapolis shops and restaurants via Skyway. Security personnel will be positioned throughout the ramps and in the Skyways to assist in directing fans from their parking spot to the ballpark.

  • Metro Transit bus routes and light rail lines serving Target Field are expected to remain open during the Chauvin trial although capacity limits are in effect and masks are required; for more information, please visit here.

ENTERING THE BALLPARK

The Twins have implemented technology enhancements, gate modifications, and health and safety measures in accordance with CDC, MDH and MHD guidelines to provide for an expedited, contactless entry into Target Field.

  • All guests ages two (2) and older are required to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth to enter Target Field and at all times while in the ballpark; they may be temporarily removed only while actively eating or drinking in their ticketed seat or location. Please note that guests must still wear a face covering underneath the shield.
  • Guests with a malfunctioning face covering should see a member of the Twins Event Staff for a replacement.
  • Those guests not in compliance with the mandatory face covering policy will receive a verbal warning followed by potential removal from Target Field. The safety of our guests and staff is our priority and adherence to the new health and safety policies is non-negotiable.

  • All gates will have a COVID-19 health screening form prominently displayed; guests will be required to give a verbal confirmation of “no” to screening questions before they are allowed entry.
  • At this time, guests will not be required to provide proof of vaccination to enter Target Field.
  • For the safety of all guests and Event Staff, if within the 14 days preceding the game, you have tested positive or presumptively positive for COVID-19, experienced any COVID-19 related symptoms or been in direct contact with or in the immediate vicinity of any person who is confirmed or suspected of being infected with COVID-19, please stay home and notify your health care provider.
  • Should a guest begin to feel unwell while at Target Field, they should notify an Event Staff member immediately; appropriate facilities and resources are available as needed and/or requested.

Queuing

  • Guests are encouraged to enter Target Field at the suggested gate listed on each ticket. Gates will open 1.5 hours before scheduled first pitch.
  • At all gates, every other entry lane will be used, while floor spacers (along with digital signage and recorded greetings) will establish and enforce proper physical distancing. We ask that all guests please stand with their seating “pod” while awaiting security screening.

Bag Policy

  • Bags are not allowed in Target Field, with the exception of medically-necessary items, diaper bags and small clutch purses (max. 9” x 5”) only.

Outside Food and Beverage Policy

  • Food items are not allowed to be carried into Target Field except for necessary medical supplies.
  • Factory-sealed bottles of water (32oz. or less) are permitted.

Security Screening

  • Guests will keep all items on their person and do not need to empty their pockets prior to passing through the walk-through magnetometers, unless otherwise requested.
  • Guests will have the option to be screened by Event Staff via wand; those who cannot will have the option of a pat-down screening.

  • All Twins tickets will be delivered digitally via the MLB Ballpark app, and contactless ticket-scanning technology will be utilized at all gates.
  • Screenshots and printed tickets will not be accepted at any Target Field gate.
  • For quicker entry:
    • Access your tickets through the MLB Ballpark app.
    • Transfer tickets to individuals in your seating “pod” prior to arriving at Target Field.
    • Ensure your mobile device is charged and the brightness on the phone is turned up as much as possible.
    • Pull up your mobile ticket via the MLB Ballpark app prior to arriving at the security screening.
  • If you are having difficulty accessing your ticket(s) on your mobile device, please visit the Target Field Box Office prior to approaching the security screening.

  • All guests attending Twins games are expected to comply with the Minnesota Twins Guest Code of Conduct.
  • Those not in compliance with the Guest Code of Conduct will receive a verbal warning followed by potential removal from Target Field. The safety of our guests and staff is our priority and adherence to the new health and safety policies is non-negotiable.
  • Additionally, all guests attending Twins games are agreeing to all terms and conditions referred to on their ticket.

AROUND THE BALLPARK

To make the Target Field experience as clean, safe and enjoyable as possible for every guest that comes through our gates, the Twins have examined every aspect of the fan journey and, in collaboration with MLB, public health officials and our science partners at 3M, developed corresponding protocols adhering to guidelines and recommendations established by the CDC, MDH and MHD.

  • All guests, Twins employees and Event Staff are required to practice proper physical distancing when moving about Target Field. Signage, floor spacers, Public Address announcements and other messaging will help establish and enforce six (6) feet of distance.
  • The Twins have developed a limited-capacity seating plan utilizing “pods” to maximize guest comfort and safety. Each pod is exactly two (2) or four (4) contiguous seats only, and is properly physically distanced (min. 6 feet) from other pods in all directions. Please do your part and maintain pod integrity throughout the game.
  • Guests are encouraged to use escalators and ramps. Elevators will have a maximum capacity of four (4) guests per car; all guests in a car at one time must be from the same seating “pod.”
  • Capacity inside retail locations, premium areas, indoor bars and restaurants, and group spaces has been modified to MDH and MHD requirements and to establish proper physical distancing.
  • As mandated by MLB for the safety of players and uniformed personnel, a “buffer zone” has been created between the playing field and the first row of ticketed seats adjacent to both dugouts (12 feet in distance) and bullpens (6 feet in distance). Guests are not allowed within the designated “buffer zones” at any time.

  • The MLB Ballpark app provides guests the ability to order and purchase food, beverage and merchandise throughout Target Field directly from their mobile device, via partnership with Venuetize.
  • The app will automatically provide menus and items from the closest concessions and/or retail locations to the guest’s ticketed seat, while also allowing the guest to order from any food, beverage or retail location throughout Target Field.
  • Pre-packaged order pick up from separate, designated “grab-and-go” stations will complete the contactless dining and/or retail experience.
  • The mobile wallet function within the MLB Ballpark app supports all major credit/debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Twins Season Ticket Holders will automatically receive their 10% Sweet Spot discount on all mobile purchases.

  • Food and beverage will be sold at select locations throughout Target Field.
  • Capacity for indoor bars and restaurants, and outdoor gathering spaces, has been modified to meet MDH and MHD requirements and establish proper physical distancing; maximum capacity will be enforced by Event Staff.
  • All guests ages two (2) and over must wear a face covering over their nose and mouth at all times while inside a Target Field restaurant, except when actively eating or drinking in their seat.
  • Partitions will be used to separate staff and guests at points-of-sale. Signage, floor spacers and other messaging will be used to establish and enforce proper physical distancing.
  • In-aisle food and beverage vending and service is discontinued.

Payment

  • Contactless mobile ordering and payment via the MLB Ballpark app is preferred. Those orders will be available for express pick up at designated “grab-and-go” stations.
  • If necessary, credit card purchases at point-of-sale will not require signatures and/or PINs to complete purchase (under a certain dollar amount).

Packaging, Utensils and Condiments

  • All food items will be prepackaged and/or boxed in a single-use, disposable container.
  • All beverages will be served with a lid in single-use, disposable containers; “refillable” drinks are discontinued.
  • Prepackaged and single-use straws, cutlery and condiments are available upon request at point-of-sale; self-serve condiment carts and condiment stations are discontinued.
  • All food and beverage must be consumed by guests in their ticketed seat or location, not while traveling through the concourse.
  • Face coverings may only be lowered when actively eating or drinking in the guest’s ticketed seat or location.

  • Twins merchandise will be sold at the Twins Clubhouse Store located next to Gate 29, and at select locations throughout Target Field.
  • Capacity for indoor retail locations has been modified to meet MDH and MHD requirements and establish proper physical distancing; maximum capacity will be enforced by Event Staff.
  • Partitions will be used to separate staff and guests at points-of-sale. Signage, floor spacers and other messaging will be used to establish and enforce proper physical distancing.
  • All guests ages two (2) and over must wear a face covering over their nose and mouth at all times while shopping in an indoor retail location.

Payment

  • Contactless mobile ordering and payment via the MLB Ballpark app is preferred. Those merchandise orders will be available for express pick up at designated “grab-and-go” stations located at retail locations.
  • If necessary, credit card purchases at point-of-sale will not require signatures and/or PINs to complete purchase (under a certain dollar amount).

  • Twins employees and Event Staff (including Delaware North concession and retail staff) are required to submit to a health questionnaire and temperature check daily upon arrival and prior to entering Target Field.
  • Twins employees and Event Staff (including Delaware North concession and retail staff) are required to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth to enter Target Field and at all times while in the ballpark.
  • Twins employees and Event Staff (including Delaware North concession and retail staff) are also required to wear gloves, gowns and/or face shields in all appropriate situations.
  • Any Twins employee and Event Staff (including Delaware North concession and retail staff) that, within the 14 days preceding the game, has tested positive or presumptively positive for COVID-19, experienced COVID-19 symptoms or been in direct contact with or in the immediate vicinity of any person who is confirmed or suspected of being infected with COVID-19, will be asked to stay home and contact their health care provider.

  • The Twins, in accordance with the 3M™ Clean & Protect Certified Badge Program, will implement a comprehensive system for cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing and monitoring all common-touch surfaces and high-use guest areas throughout Target Field.
  • As part of these protocols, the Twins will clean, disinfect and sanitize all in-use seats, railings, food and drink surfaces, elevators and escalators, and restrooms using EPA-approved COVID-19 cleaners and disinfectants before, during and after each game.
  • The Twins have introduced enhanced HVAC filters to provide the cleanest air possible for all indoor locations at Target Field (including premium areas, bars and restaurants, retail spaces and all back-of-house locations). Additionally, all windows and doors of indoor locations will be opened whenever possible at those times when guests are present.
  • Signage, floor spacers and other messaging will be used to encourage and enforce proper physical distancing in all restrooms. Event Staff will monitor restroom capacity, while cleaning and disinfecting regularly throughout the game using EPA-approved COVID-19 cleaners and disinfectants.
  • Hand sanitizer locations can be found throughout Target Field, including at entrances, concourses, premium areas and restrooms.
  • All Twins cleaning, disinfecting and sanitization measures adhere to guidelines and recommendations set forth by the CDC, MDH and MHD.

EXITING THE BALLPARK

The Twins will enforce health measures, including physical distancing, to provide the safest way possible for our guests to exit Target Field.
